Me-1.jpg

I was in private practice (Van Beveren and Yankowitz Physical Therapy in Westvale) for 25 years until my partner and I decided to close our practice (for reasons mostly having to do with not wanting to deal with insurance companies -- more on that later) and "take our talents" to the Outpatient Rehabilitation Department at St. Camillus.  We practiced there until March, 2018 when St. Camillus decided to close that department (again, in large part due to difficulties with insurance companies).

In addition to my formal education, I have spent hundreds of hours over the years attending continuing education seminars, conferences, and lectures.  I have also served as Adjunct Faculty in both the Utica College and Upstate Medical University physical therapy education programs, as well as served as teaching faculty for continuing education seminars on the foot and ankle.

My special interest throughout my career has been in the evaluation and treatment of running injuries and I have successfully helped hundreds of Central New York runners both recover from and prevent injuries.  For almost 30 years, I have written a periodic column on running injuries -- The Therapy Corner -- for the Syracuse Chargers Track Club newsletter.

Throughout my career, I have dedicated a substantial amount of time serving in various leadership positions of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and its New York chapter (NYPTA), receiving the Outstanding Service (2001) and Lifetime Achievement (2009) awards from the latter.

I now have chosen to practice in a new setting, seeing select patients in my home on a cash-only basis.

What does that mean? Find out here.
